Wreath Making at 468 Wine
January 17, 5:30-7:30 pm

Get your friends together and join us at 468 Urban Winery to make a seasonal grapevine wreath using items of your choosing. This is a 21 & and up special event with wine available for purchase. There are only 30 spots available! Registration includes all supplies. $20.00

Birds and Blooms at Wolf Lake State Fish Hatchery
February 17, 12:00-4:00 pm

We've partnered with the Audubon Society of Kalamazoo, Kalamazoo Area Wild Ones, and Wolf Lake State Fish Hatchery to bring you fun activities focused on birds and blooms on this Great Backyard Bird Count Day. Come on your own or bring friends and family. Be sure to dress for the weather for the bird walk. Free

From Celery City to the Bedding Plant Capital at Portage Zhang Senior Center
February 20, 2:00-4:00 pm

Join us for a presentation that walks through the area's celery history and the transition to bedding plants and the creation of Kalamazoo in Bloom. After the talk, participants will be able to plant and take home a succulent. $10 for Members/$15 for Non-Members of Portage Zhang Senior Center. Registration is required.

Home and Garden Expo at Kalamazoo County Expo Center
March 8-10
We're partnering with the Home Builders Association to bring event goers workshops and activities useful and fun for everyone! We're also working with MSU Extension Master Gardeners for educational seminars and to create the feature garden area with the theme of Backyard Bliss.

Surprise Gifts at River Street Flowerland's Herb Workshop

We're partnering with River Street Flowerland to give gifts to random guests participating in their herb workshop. Drop in to the workshop anytime between 9am-1pm. Cost for each planter is $14.

Creation Station Day at Portage District Library
March 23, 1:00-3:00
Join us to make yourself a colorful item using the library's sublimation machine in their Creation Station and Makerspace. Choose the item you want to make. There are limited spots available for this free activity open to kids and adults.

Surprise Gifts at Wenke Greenhouses Spring Potting Parties
April 19-21 and 26-28
We're partnering with Wenke Greenhouses to give gifts to random customers participating in their spring potting parties. Get a jump-start on your gardening season by designing and planting your own combination planters! Wenke Greenhouses will even keep them until it is warm enough to put them outside! Many dates and times available.

KIB Anniversary Party at Brewery Outré
May 24, 5:00-8:00 pm
We're celebrating our anniversary with Brewery Outré in downtown Kalamazoo. It's also our final planting day so we all deserve a party! Brewery Outré will have a beer brewed especially for KIB all month - a cherry Saison called Queen of Cherry Flowers. There will be dessert, lots of friends, and maybe a few surprises. Celebrate with us at this great local brewery which will donate a portion of this beer's sales! Free

Garden Tea Party at Crane Park 
June 15, 1:00-3:00 pm
This special ticketed event will feature 3 courses and herbal teas. We'll be under large canopies. Presentation by Anthony Tran from Shades of Lavender. Music by the Burdick-Thorne String Quartet from the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra. $40 per person. Invitations will be mailed soon. TICKETS MUST BE PURCHASED IN ADVANCE.

Butterfly Walk at the Kalamazoo Nature Center
August 3, 1:00-3:00 pm (rain date August 10)
Join us on a guided walk outdoors at the Kalamazoo Nature Center to learn about and find butterflies. This is the ideal time to see them. Join us for snacks and beverages and to talk abut the experience in the parking lot when we're done.

Historic Walk with Lynn Houghton
September 12, 6:30-8:00 pm
Lynn Houghton, Regional History Curator at the Zhang Legacy Collections Center and co-author of Kalamazoo Lost and Found, is giving a historical tour in Bronson Park. The history and current activities of Kalamazoo in Bloom will also be included.
